Kelompok kajian ini mencakup berbagai topik penelitian yang terkait dengan iklim usaha dan keterlibatan perusahaan dalam jejaring produksi global. Secara lebih khusus kelompok kajian ini memiliki minat dalam berbagai isu dan tema berikut:
- Pengembangan Usaha Mikro, Kecil dan Menengah (UMKM) dan Keuangan Mikro
- Daya saing industri manufaktur, rantai nilai industri, dan rantai pasok
- Pengembangan pariwisata dan industri jasa
- Iklim investasi dan lingkungan bisnis
- Perdagangan internasional dan rantai nilai global
Dalam melakukan penelitian dan konsultasi, kelompok kajian ini berupaya menggabungkan pendekatan ekonomi tradisional dengan perspektif dunia usaha untuk memberikan rekomendasi kebijakan dan manajerial yang komprehensif dan lebih dapat diterapkan. Kelompok kajian ini juga menyebarluaskan hasil kajian dan mengkomunikasikan kepada pemangku kepentingan terkait.
Kelompok kajian ini mulai menerbitkan publikasi bulanan Trade and Industry Brief sejak Maret 2018, berupa laporan singkat tentang isu terkini terkait perkembangan sektor manufaktur, neraca perdagangan dan harga komoditas, kinerja ekspor dan perkembangan impor. Sejak Januari 2020, kelompok kajian ini juga membawahi ukmindonesia.id (https://www.ukmindonesia.id/), sebuah web platform yang berfungsi sebagai pusat informasi dan fasilitasi UMKM naik kelas. Platform tersebut bertujuan untuk mempertemukan UMKM dari berbagai sektor dan wilayah, instansi pemerintah terkait, komunitas, calon investor, dan off-taker potensial.

Mohamad D. Revindo, Ph.D.
Revindo bergabung sebagai peneliti di LPEM-FEBUI sejak 2009 dan sejak 2017 dipercaya menjadi Kepala Pusat Kajian Iklim Usaha dan Rantai Nilai Global. Bidang penelitian yang menjadi minat dan keahlian utamanya meliputi iklim investasi, pengembangan usaha mikro, kecil dan menengah (UMKM), jejaring produksi global, rantai pasok dan rantai nilai industri, daya saing industri, pengembangan pariwisata, pengembangan ekonomi lokal, akses keuangan mikro, dan analisis dampak pengganda ekonomi dari kegiatan investasi dan operasional bisnis.
Revindo memiliki pengalaman yang luas dalam kegiatan penelitian, survei dan konsultasi dengan berbagai lembaga/organisasi nasional dan internasional. Beberapa lembaga di dalam negeri yang pernah bekerja sama dengannya diantaranya Kementerian Perindustrian, Kementerian PPN/Bappenas, Kemendesa, Kementerian ESDM, Kementerian Keuangan, Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan, PT Telkom, Yayasan Lembaga Konsumen Indonesia, PT ASDP, PT Sucofindo dan PT Krakatau Steel. Dia juga pernah terlibat dalam beberapa kegiatan penelitian dengan organisasi internasional antara lain APEC Secretariat, JICA, Australian DFAT, British Prosperity Funds dan European Development Fund. Sebelumnya pada 2000-2005 Revindo pernah bekerja sebagai koordinator survei dan auditor mutu di PT. Surveyor Indonesia, BUMN yang mengkhususkan diri dalam jasa survei, inspeksi dan sertifikasi.
Selain sebagai peneliti, Revindo adalah staf pengajar pada Sekolah Pasca Sarjana Kajian Stratejik dan Global Universitas Indonesia (SKSG UI) dan Fakultas Ekonomi dan Bisnis Universitas Indonesia (FEB UI). Selain itu, Revindo adalah editor utama jurnal ilmiah Economics and Finance in Indonesia yang diterbitkan oleh Universitas Indonesia dan Jurnal Ekonomi Indonesia yang diterbitkan oleh Ikatan Sarjana Ekonomi Indonesia.
Revindo meraih gelar Ph.D. dalam bidang Ilmu Ekonomi dari Lincoln University, New Zealand dan penerima beasiswa New Zealand-ASEAN Scholar Awards (2013-2017). Disertasi Ph.D.-nya berjudul ‘Internationalisation of Indonesian SMEs’ (Internasionalisasi UKM Indonesia). Dia juga memegang gelar M.A dalam bidang Studi Kawasan Eropa dari KU Leuven, Belgia (2008), gelar M.Sc. dalam bidang Ekonomi Sains dari KU Leuven, Belgia (2007) dan gelar Sarjana Ekonomi dalam Ilmu Ekonomi dan Studi Pembangunan dari Universitas Indonesia (2000).
Minat penelitiannya meliputi Pengembangan UMKM, Ekonomi Internasional, Ekonomi Industri, Rantai Pasok dan Rantai Nilai, Pengembangan Pariwisata, Pengembangan Ekonomi Lokal, Keuangan Mikro.

Denny Irawan, S.E., M.S.E., Ph.D.
Denny Irawan bergabung sebagai peneliti di LPEM FEB UI sejak 2012 dan sejak 2021 dipercaya menjadi Wakil Kepala Kelompok Kajian Iklim Usaha dan Rantai Pasok Global. Denny juga merupakan dosen di Departemen Ilmu Ekonomi FEB UI dan peneliti di Centre for Applied Macroeconomic Analysis (CAMA), The Australian National University. Publikasi akademik utama Denny di antaranya pada Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control (JEDC) dan Geoderma. Minat penelitian Denny yaitu Ketidakpastian Makroekonomi, Keuangan Perusahaan, Keuangan Berkelanjutan, Perusahaan Sumber Daya Alam, dan Perbankan. Denny telah lulus ujian CFA Level 1.
Sebagai peneliti dan konsultan di bidang ekonomi, Denny telah terlibat di lebih dari 50 penelitian dan konsultasi. Bentuk kegiatan yang pernah dijalani sangat beragam mencakup valuasi dampak ekonomi dan fikal, analisis pembiayaan infrastruktur, survei persepsi, peramalan makroekonomi dan keuangan, dan perencanaan ekonomi. Berbagai klien yang sudah pernah dibantu diantaranya The World Bank, Asian Development Bank, Kementerian Perindustrian, Kementerian ESDM, BAPPENAS, SKK Migas, Bank Indonesia, Otoritas Jasa Keuangan, Bank Central Asia, Bank Rakyat Indonesia, Bank Mandiri, Indonesia Infrastructure Guarantee Fund, POSCO, Pertamina, INPEX Corp, Hutama Karya, dan INALUM.
Denny mendapatkan gelar PhD di bidang Ilmu Ekonomi pada 2021 dari Arndt-Corden Department of Economics (ACDE) dan Centre for Applied Macroeconomic Analysis (CAMA), Crawford School of Public Policy, The Australian National University (ANU). Denny meraih gelar Sarjana Ekonomi (SE) dan Magister Sains Ekonomi (MSE) dari Fakultas Ekonomi dan Bisnis, Universitas Indonesia, di tahun 2013 dan 2017.
