With Indonesia’s growing ambition to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions, Presidential Regulation No. 112/2022 was issued to promote the growth of renewable energy. This article examines the differences between the new policy and the prior regulation and highlights the key stakeholders who must support the policy’s success. We identify that the procurement, price mechanism, and coal phase-out are the new components of this policy. The key stakeholders’ ability to implement the policy will ultimately determine its effectiveness in promoting renewable energy, and therefore we must control and evaluate its implementation.
